After the initial examination with a dermatoscope, we apply liquid nitrogen to the affected area with a cotton swab or cryospray, which freezes the plaque. Liquid nitrogen freezes skin growths and other formations to a temperature well below zero. At such a temperature, the treated tissue dies and gradually falls off spontaneously or after natural mechanical irritation. The effect of treatment with liquid nitrogen depends on the duration and method of application. The procedure is outpatient, fast and without scarring.
In order to achieve the desired result, it is sometimes necessary to repeat the procedure until the skin formation in question is completely removed. This method is often combined with other methods of removing skin formations.
A scab may form on the treated area, which falls off spontaneously within 7-14 days after the procedure. A pink spot remains on the skin, sometimes also a faint post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which, however, blends with the surrounding skin over the next few days. We recommend that the area is not exposed to direct sunlight.
