After consulting with the surgeon, the patient arranges all necessary preoperative examinations. For optimal recovery, it is recommended to:
• Not smoke or drink alcohol for at least 10 to 14 days before surgery.
• Maintain excellent health.
SMAS browlift is performed under local anesthesia, sedation or general anesthesia and takes approximately one to two hours. The surgical incision is placed in the scalp area to make it as invisible as possible. The surgeon then separates the SMAS layer, effectively lifting the eyebrows. The loose tissues are then fixed in their new position.
The healing process is individual and depends on the patient's ability to regenerate and compliance with postoperative instructions.
As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks with SMAS browlift. The client is informed in detail about all possible complications during the consultation.
The most common risks:
• Infection: Can occur due to insufficient wound hygiene.
• Scarring: However, the resulting scars are often well hidden in the hair.
• Change in sensitivity: During healing, the sensitivity of the forehead or eyebrows may be temporarily changed.
• Nerve involvement: When manipulating near the facial nerves, their partial dysfunction is possible, which usually corrects itself over time.
