The Deep Plane Facelift, especially in its extended form, offers a comprehensive approach to treating all major facial areas. It also mobilizes the midface area, effectively lifts the cheek area, creates volume in the cheekbone area, smoothens the nasolabial area, creates a smooth line along the jaw, and improves the angle between the neck and jaw (neck lift).
The Deep Plane Facelift uses a different philosophy to move facial structures. SMAS and platysma are responsible for their decrease. In a classic facelift, the SMAS and platysma remain in firm contact with the facial muscles. The surgeon combats this tight connection with sutures that pull the SMAS to the desired location. He then attempts to pull and shorten the skin. It is the detachment of the skin from the SMAS and the pull on the skin that could create the artificial, unnatural appearance that is typical after a classic facelift. In a Deep Plane Facelift, the SMAS is completely relaxed and the platysma is moved to its original location. The skin remains firmly attached to the SMAS system, it does not lose its structure and naturalness. The result is natural and above all long lasting.
A personal consultation is key to finding the most appropriate solution. We recommend a facelift for patients with a significant decrease in facial structures. The average age is between 40 and 65 years. Deep Plane Facelift for patients who want a natural result.
After the consultation, the patient arranges for all preoperative examinations. It is necessary to stop taking blood thinning medications or replace them with others as directed by the physician 10-14 days prior to surgery. We recommend not smoking, not drinking alcohol and being in good health 10-14 days before the surgery.
Deep plane facelift is performed under general anesthesia. Without combining with other procedures, the surgery takes about 3 hours. If we combine several services, we can easily reach 5 hours. Most often, the DPFL is combined with an upper and lower eyelid lift, liposuction of the chin or an eyebrow lift, called a brow lift.
We find that the recovery time for procedures on the face is relatively short, especially if we compare it to procedures on the body. After two weeks, most of the swelling has already subsided. We hide the scars in the natural folds of the skin, so after three months they are very inconspicuous. We recommend recovering at home for two weeks.
